ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State football team held its seventh practice of the spring followed by the first full scrimmage Sunday at Dawson Stadium. The one hour 30 minute scrimmage, which included various schemes on offense and defensive sets showed improvement on both sides of the ball.
"Well it went good at times and no so good we still got a lot of things we need to improve on before spring drills are over with," said SC State head coach Buddy Pough. "We have a few things we need work out but overall you saw some guys out there working hard and doing the necessary things to get the job done"
Pough also stated, "It's usually a struggle when you are breaking in new positions and getting guys use to a certain way of things but overall it's not unusual. It will be interesting to see we have some guys we think can help us as time goes on and they develop more."
With less than two weeks left of the originally slated 15-practice schedule of the spring, head coach Buddy Pough noticed the intensity developing on both sides of the ball in the first scrimmage.
SC State will conduct their annual Pro Day Wednesday (Apr.2) with approximately 15 seniors from the 2013 team, which are scheduled to work out for pro scouts from National Football League teams.
The Bulldogs return to the practice fields Tuesday at 6:30 a.m.., for the eighth spring workout. SC State will hold its annual Garnet & Blue Spring game Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. in Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
