South Carolina State head coach Oliver "Buddy" Pough talks about facing nationally ranked and co-defending Big South regular season champion Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are currently ranked 25th in the Sports Network and 21st in the FCS Coaches' preseason poll.
After coming off last season's 5-6 campaign, Pough spent the offseason and preseason challenging his players on the importance on being better than the year before.
BULLDOGS 10th IN SBN SPORTS POLL
South Carolina State claimed the final spot in the preseason Sheridan Broadcasting Network's preseason Top 10 Black College Football poll.
The Bulldogs edged out future Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent Alabama A&M for 10th place. Last year's SBN Sports champion Winston-Salem State was ranked first in the poll ahead of defending MEAC champion Bethune-Cookman, taking 19 of the 30 first-place votes.
