Seven Bulldogs Named To Steele Magazine All-MEAC Preseason Team

Tyler McDonald, Tristan Bellamy, Joe Thomas and Nick Belcher Garner Preseason All-MEAC First Team Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine, the nation's most informative preseason football publication for both FBS and FCS coverage, has selected seven South Carolina State Bulldogs to the Phil Steele's 2013 Preseason All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Team.

Senior's offensive lineman Tristan Bellamy, wide receiver Tyler McDonald, linebacker Joe Thomas, and kicker Nick Belcher were all named to the Preseason All-MEAC First Team. Meanwhile, junior defensive lineman Alex Glover, freshman offensive lineman Javarius Leamon and senior defensive lineman Curtis Hill all earned Preseason All-MEAC Second Team honors.

A native of Johnston, SC native Bellamy ()is a hardnosed tough player who earned All-MEAC honors last season. He started and played in all 11 games last season for the Bulldogs, one of only two offensive linemen to accomplish this.

A native of Summerville, SC McDonald a starter last season, earned the Outstanding Receiver award for the team while finishing the season second in catches with 34 and led the team in reception yards with 511 yards and 4 TD'. He is one handful of players who is a four year starter and has been added to the CFPA (College Football Performance Awards) Wide Receiver Awards watch list for this upcoming season.

A native of Blackville, SC Thomas had an excellent junior campaign at "mike" linebacker, but an injury during the NC Central game sideline him the rest of the season. He started in six games, while finishing with 39 tackles, 26 unassisted, with 5 tackles for a loss for 20 yards and 1 pass break up…

A native of Sumter, SC Belcher had 75 punts with an average 38.9 and a long of 62 yards. He was 8/15 on field goals and kicked a long of 47 yards, while connecting on 20 inside the 20 yard line.

Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine also listed FCS Preseason Position Rankings that included 13 Bulldogs. The publication listed Bellamy as the No. 15th rated guard, senior Joe Thomas as the No.24 linebacker, freshman Javarius Leamon as the No. 24 tackle, senior Darius Drummond as No. 26 punt returner, sophomore Javon Hargrave as the No.35 defensive tackle and senior Curtis Hill as No. 39 , senior Nick Belcher as the No. 43 punter, senior Kamario McFadden as the No. 51 safety, junior Steven Murphy as No. 54 corner back and No. 41 punt returner, junior Alex Glover as No. 59 defensive end, senior Tyler McDonald as No.59 wide receiver and junior Justin Hughes as No. 60 linebacker.
