SC State Women’s Basketball Team Host Claflin in Exhibition to Start 2013-14 Season

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's basketball team will host neighboring Claflin in an exhibition contest, tomorrow, Monday, Nov 4, to open its 2013-14 play. The contest is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip. This will be the third straight season the teams will meet to kick off the season with SC State won the last two matchups.

SC State, under the direction of six year head coach Doug Robertson, is coming off a 20-9 season from a year ago, which was the best season under Robertson. The Lady Bulldogs returns five players from last year squad including two starters (Cabriel Duren and Kourtney Williams). Duren averaged 5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.55 assists per game. Williams, who came on strong during her sophomore campaign averaged 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per outing.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Greensboro, N.C. next Friday, Nov. 15 to face the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro in their 2013 regular season opener. SC State will then travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to face USC-Upstate (Tuesday, Nov. 19) before returning home to host Presbyterian on Thursday, Nov. 21.
