Major losses shake up HBCU poll
B-CU unanimous No. 1; WSSU No. 2 with media

Six weeks ago was the last time a team was a unanimous selection in the Boxtorow coaches' and media polls. Bethune-Cookman has yet to relinquish its top ranking this year and in week nine once again made it unanimous

The Wildcats earned the unanimous No. 1 after defeating South Carolina State 14-3. B-CU's only loss this year came to nationally ranked Florida State. The Wildcats have defeated both SCSU and Tennessee State.

In the coaches' poll, South Carolina State dropped to No. 5, while Tennessee State, who had its seven-game winning streak snapped by Eastern Illinois, the No. 2 ranked team in FCS, only dropped one place to No. 3, just five points behind No. 2 Jackson State who moved up two spots to its highest ranking ever after pulling away from Prairie View A&M in the fourth quarter.
Hampton has won three-straight games, defeating Delaware State Saturday, and debuts at No. 10.

While Jackson State edged Tennessee State in the coaches' poll, the same didn't happen in the media poll as TSU is No. 3, two points ahead of JSU. Both are behind defending national champion Winston-Salem State, whose No. 2 ranking it its highest this season.

The Boxtorow HBCU FCS coaches' and media polls are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches' poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
