SC State Takes On Howard In Pivotal MEAC Showdown

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs look to keep up their winning ways when they host the Bison of Howard University in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic clashing at Dawson Stadium/Jeffries Field. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m.

The Bison are looking to keep their championships hopes alive with a victory over the Bulldogs, while SC State seeks to continue their winning ways to avoid its first losing season in 11 years under Pough.

SETTING THE SCENE: This will be the 42nd meeting between the two teams in school history dating back to 1971, with the Bulldogs leading the series 31-10 over the Bison. SC State shutout Howard 10-0 in their first ever meeting, meanwhile in 2011 the Bulldogs dominated the Bison 31-0 in Washington, DC. Coach Pough is 9-1 vs. Howard. Howard's head coach Gary “Flea” Harrell is 0-1 vs. SC State.

THE COACHES: SC STATE'S BUDDY POUGH (SC STATE '75) is in his 11th season as head coach at his alma mater and owns and 85-38 overall record and a 66-19 MEAC. HOWARD'S GARY”FLEA” HARRELL (HOWARD '94) is in his second season as Howard's head coach. Harrell has the Bison off to their best start at 5-2 since 1993.
