SC State Basketball Teams Host Howard In MEAC Doubleheader

Box Score ORANGEBURG, SC —The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will host Howard University in a pivotal MEAC doubleheader Monday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., following the women's contest.
        The Bulldogs (4-16 overall, 0-7 MEAC) will be looking to snap a seven-game league losing streak with a win over the Bison. Meanwhile, in their last outing SC State suffered a tough 78-66 loss to the Pirates of Hampton on last week. Howard (4-17, 1-7) enters tonight's contest losers of eight straight following a 71-50 loss at Savannah State.
        Senior Brandon Riley continues to lead the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game, while junior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 11.7 points, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
        Howard is led by senior guard and Tulsa transfer Glenn Andrews, whose averaging 14.3 points per game and senior forward Mike Phillips (8.2 points, 5.9 rebounds per game).
        On the women's side,  the Lady Bulldogs (8-10, 3-4) look to snap a two-game losing streak against a  scrappy and tough Lady Bison (14-7, 6-2)team is coming off a 64-51 win over Savannah State.
        SC State is led by junior Tiara Knotts with 12.6 per contest, while teammates Paris Alston and Cabriel Duren chips in a little over 8 points per outing each.

        SC State will return to action on Saturday with they host Savannah State in a crucial MEAC showdown. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. for the women, with the men beginning immediately following in a 4 p.m. start.
