ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State closed out their second week of preseason football drills on Friday, conducting its second of two-a-day workouts. The Bulldogs held a short, light practice in the afternoon session in shorts and helmets focusing more on fundamental drills, according to head coach Pough.
“It was a pretty productive day, we tried to do a lot of slow down fundamentals and polishing in preparation for tomorrow's scrimmage,” said Pough. “We went in shorts both practice sessions to make sure we don't get any more guys banged up.”
During the evening session, the Bulldogs devoted a most of their attention to various phases of special teams, while working in and out different guys in the process, Pough said.
He later pointed out that Saturday will be the first time they really get a chance to evaluate some guys under the pressure during some live action contact in the scrimmage.
Pough's team returns to the field Saturday at 10 a.m. with special teams and indiviual workouts, followed by the Bulldogs first scheduled scrimmage.
