ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State conducted an abbreviated practice Friday with most of the session devoted to preparation for the Bulldogs' first preseason scrimmage Saturday morning at 10 at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
“We mainly wanted to sharpen up and get ready for our scrimmage,” said Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough following Friday's workout. “We polished up on our protections, our blitzes and our general looks with hopes that we will be pretty sharp on Saturday.”
Friday's workout, conducted in shorts, helmets and shoulder pads, lasted on about one and one-half hours. It got off to a lackluster start before the Bulldogs picked up their intensity with prodding from Pough.
SC State opens its 2010 campaign Sept. 4 against Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Bobby Dowd Stadium.
