SC State Conducts Second Spring Workout

Frigid Temps Did Not Dampen Bulldogs' Intensity

Spring Practice Flash

ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State conducted its second spring football workout Thursday night amid frigid weather conditions. Despite below freezing temperatures before the 1:45-minute session ended, the Bulldogs demonstrated the same intensity they showed during their first practice on Monday, according to head coach Buddy Pough.

“We had a good workout,” said Pough. “The temperature was a lot different than on Monday, but the intensity and enthusiasm were not lacking. “Our players moved around really well and we worked a lot of people and I think they understand what we are trying to accomplish.”

Pough said it was too early to see who would emerge at running back to replace the departed Will Ford, who completed his career as the all-time leading rusher at SC State and in the MEAC with over 4,600 yards, but he noted that he and the staff will get a chance to evaluate the Bulldogs players a lot more on Friday when SC State will put on shoulder pads for the first time. Friday's workout gets underway at 6 p.m.
