BALTIMORE, MD – The South Carolina State men will make their third television appearance of the season Monday when they face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference leader Morgan State in a 7 p.m. ESPNU telecast at Hill Field House.
The contest, the second of five in 10 days for Coach Tim Carter and his Bulldogs, will be preceded by the women's game at 4 p.m.
SC State (13-9, 7-4 MEAC), which had a five-game win streak snapped Saturday with a 79-61 loss at Coppin State, and the Bears (19-7, 11-0 MEAC), who defeated Winston-Salem State 79-65 Saturday, are meeting for the second time this season. In an earlier meeting at Orangeburg Jan. 16, Morgan State erased a 13-point second-half deficit to earn a 72-67 win in a game televised live by ESPN2.
The Bulldogs made their second national television appearance Feb. 1 in a 77-62 victory that was carried live by ESPNU. SC State will also appear on ESPNU Feb. 22 when the Bulldogs meet Norfolk State at Norfolk, Va. in their final regular-season road contest.
The SC State women (8-15, 3-8 MEAC) are coming off a 69-53 win at Coppin on Saturday. The victory was the first MEAC road win for the Lady Bulldogs and gave Coach Doug Robertson's team back-to-back victories for only the second time this season. The only other time the SC State women accomplished the feat was early in the season when they beat N.C. Central 81-75 in overtime (Dec. 1) at home and followed up with a 66-55 triumph (Dec. 5) at Winston-Salem State.
The Morgan State women, who rolled over Winston-Salem State 73-44 on Saturday, are in third place in the MEAC standings at 7-3 and stand 12-11 overall. One of their wins was an 82-75 victory over the Lady Bulldogs Jan. 16 at Orangeburg.
