Former SC State Standout Cedric Lloyd

South Carolina State former defensive end Cedric Lloyd was recently signed by the Columbus Lions of the Southern Indoor Football League to play professional football.

Lloyd (6-5-235), an All-MEAC selection in 2007 and 2008, had an impressive pro day at SC State last year, posting a 4.7, 40 times. He was one of just three players, along with S.C. State teammates Octavius Darby and Phillip Morris, allowed to go through the full workout during Pro Day at Oliver C. Dawson.

A defensive end with the Bulldogs, Lloyd is a projected linebacker on the professional level, sat out last season after not getting picked up in the free-agent market.

He is one of three players, joining former Hilton Head High and Western Carolina star receiver Eddie Cohen and former Citadel wide receiver Joshua Haney, with South Carolina ties on the team’s roster. Lloyd is scheduled to report to Columbus March 11.
