ORANGEBURG, SC—Senior forward/center Marie Reid tossed in 18 points but it wasn’t enough as the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs suffered a tough 69-51 loss to The Lady Eagles of Coppin State Saturday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

The first-half was all Coppin State jumping out to a 16 point lead, 33-17 on a jumper by Shante Cummings with 1:51 left in the half. A pair of free-throws by Kristin Johnson cut the Lady Eagles lead to 13, 20-33 ending the half.
A Jennifer Martin jumper gave Coppin State’s its biggest lead 18, 49-31 at the 12:38 mark. The closest the Lady Bulldogs would get was 10, 59-49 on a jumper by Jenell Moore with 3:06 left in the game.
Coppin State proved to be too much pulling ahead by 18, 69-51 on a layup by Danielle Anders and sealing the victory for the Lady Eagles.
South Carolina State falls to 5-12 overall, 2-7 in the conference, while Coppin State improves to 8-12 overall, 7-3 in the league.
