SC State's Young Earns HSRN National POTW Honor
Second Bulldog to Reap the Honor this Season

Hartly, DE – The results are in for the Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) National Player of the Week and its South Carolina State’s Oliver Tre’ Young (Div. I-FCS) and Stillman’s Quinn Porter (Div. II). Each week HSRN honors the top performances on the gridiron and fans across the country vote to select the National Player of the Week for Division I FCS and Division II.
The Division-I-FCS-fan poll winner- Oliver Tre’ Young – S.C. State (6’0, 180-SR-WR/Charleston, SC) six receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns, also posted 313 all purpose yards with 108 coming from punt returns on four returns. On the day he also had 39 yards on kickoff returns as S.C. State clinched the MEAC championship with a 37-13 win over Morgan St. Young, a Charleston, SC native also became the Bulldogs all-time leader in receptions (122). He is the second SC State play to reap this honor as linebacker David Erby earned the accolade earlier.
In Division II action, Quinn Porter - Stillman - rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns, completed one pass for 43 yards, returned three kickoffs for 50 yards and had one pass reception for 36 yards. He finished the game with 264 all-purpose yards, leading the Tigers to a 37-28 win over Concordia.

ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State will begin its final week of spring football drills Monday with an 8 p.m. workout. The Bulldogs, who are coming off a week-long spring break, will also hold practices at 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Friday before culminating drills Saturday with the annual Garnet and Blue Game, which gets underway at 2 p.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium.

ORANGEBURG, SC- South Carolina State was back at it again, conducting its second full scrimmage of spring drills. Friday’s scrimmage was cut short due to bad weather, but Coach Buddy Pough’s team managed to get in 50 plays in 1 hour 15 minutes before heading to the lockeroom.

Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough, who is beginning his ninth season, said his team got in some good work, but that lots of work remain.
