ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State sprinter Demek Kemp earn the bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 60 meters Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M at College Station, TX.
Kemp covered the course in a school-record time of 6.55, marking the third time this season he has lowered his own school record. The performance also earned the Monroe, GA native All-America honors.
Houston's Elijah Hall finished first in the event with a time of 6.52, followed by Raheem Chambers of Auburn at 6.53. North Carolina A&T's Jaylan Mitchell, the only other MEAC performer who qualified for the 60 meters, was eight in the field in a time of 6.69.
Kemp, on Friday, ran a 6.59 in the preliminary round -- tying his own school record mark -- to make earn a spot in Saturday's final.
