ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State track teams recorded 14 top 10 finishes at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina Mar. 14-25. Thirty three colleges and universities made up the field in the first competition at the brand-new Shelia and Morris Cregger Track.
Leading the way for Coach
Tim Langford's squads were third-place finishers
Chris Gaddist in the 110m hurdles (14.29),
Anthony Britt in the discus (48.57m, 159-4 ft.) and Jared Jeter in the 400 meters (47.42). The women's 4x300 meter relay team of Payton Ashe,
Jyana Crosby,
Kionna Walker and
Sophia Thomas was also third (2:56.89).
Other top 10 performers for SC State in the men's field included Jeffrey McReynolds, 4
th in the Javelin (44.99, 147-7 ft.); Tillman Richards, 5
th in the triple jump (12.66m, 41-6 1/2 ft.);
James Jones 6
th in the 110m hurdles (14.63);
Melvin Smith, 8
th in the 100 meters (10.99); Joseph Brevard, 8
th in the triple jump (13.99m, 45-10 ¾ ft.);
Bryson Brown, 9
th in the 100 meters (11.00); and Britt, 10
th in the javelin (45.82m).
In the women's competition,
Jyana Crosby was 4
th in the 100 meters (12.22), Payton Ashe, 4
th in the long jump (5.57m); and Breana Tyler, 7
th in the long jump (5.49m).
