ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State men and women's cross country teams will be among the 13 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schools participating in the league's 2016 Cross Country Championships Saturday (Oct. 29) at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center in Smyrna, Del.
The championships get underway with the women's 5K at 9:45 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 10:30 a.m.
In the men's competition, Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking its third straight title, while Florida A&M will be vying for a fifth straight crown in the women's division.
Leading the way for SC State in the women's competition will be junior
Marketa Marcanikova, who won three events this season and is ranked seventh (18:59.90) among MEAC runners. The men will be spearheaded by senior Michael Stackhouse, who was clocked in a personal record time of 28:16.1 at the SCSU Bulldog Duels Oct. 1.
