JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Barry Bethea placed fourth in his heat and 13^th overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.51 at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary at the University of North Florida. Bethea qualified for Friday's quarterfinal race at 7:30 p.m.
 
SC State's other representative, Antavia Owens, ran in the 100 meters and finished sixth in her heat and 37^th overall in 11.94.
