Day 1 ResultsGREENSBORO, N.C. – The South Carolina State men's track and field team is in fourth place with 12 points after the first day of competition at the 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track.
The Bulldogs got 10 points in the discus with third- and fifth-place finishes from
Xavier Molette and
Brandon Perry, respectively. Mollete hit a mark of 49.37 meters (162 feet), while Perry's throw was 46.54 meters (152-8).
In the high jump,
Christopher Bonner cleared 1.96 meters (6-5) to finish seventh and get two points.
Barry Bethea had the fastest qualifying time (51.99) in the 400-meter hurdles. The finals of the 400m hurdles will take place on Saturday.
Friday's events start at 9 a.m. with the conclusion of the decathlon.
Lorezo Johnson is representing SCSU in the decathlon.
