SC State On The Road Against BC-U

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will look to complete a season sweep Monday, when they take on host Bethune-Cookman in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic (MEAC) doubleheader at Moore Gymnasium. Tipoff for the women is 5:30 p.m., with the men following immediately afterwards.

The Bulldogs enter the contest at 8-13 overall, 4-4 in the MEAC worksheet, while Bethune-Cookman is 4-20 overall, 2-7 in the league.

"We are a facing a very dangerous Bethune-Cookman team this time around," said SC State head coach Murray Garvin. "Anytime you come to Moore Gymnasium you are in for a battle."

SC State is coming off a big, 63-59, overtime victory over Florida A&M on the road, while the BC-U suffered a tough 50-40 defeat to Savanna State at home.

Senior forward Matthew Hezekiah leads the way for the Bulldogs with 14.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while senior guard Adama "Louis" Adams adds 10.7. Sophomore forward Daryll Palmer is the leader on the boards with 6.9 and 6.9 ppg.

The Wildcats have three in double figures with Malik Jackson, Mikel Trapp, and Clemmye Owens all averaging a little over 10.0 points per contest respectively. Forward Travis Elliott leads the way in rebounding with 5.1.

South Carolina State completes a three-game swing on Saturday (Feb.8) when they travel to Dover, DE to take on the Hornets of Delaware State in a crucial Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader. Tipoff for women is 2 p.m., with the men following immediately afterwards.
