SC State Knock Off Gardner-Webb 4-2 In Men’s Tennis Action

BOILING SPRINGS, NC—The South Carolina State men's tennis team posted a huge 4-2 victory over non-conference foe Gardner-Webb , Wednesday at the Webb Tennis Complex.
         The Bulldogs improved to 11-3 overall, 2-1 in the MEAC with the victory. SC State jumped out early on in doubles competition with PROTSENKO,Anton/NIKITIN,Artemiy (SCSUM) def. Matt Parker/Ernest Alberch (GWU) 8-4 at the No. 1 spot, while BIZON,Tomas/STIBUREK,Jiri (SCSUM) def. Benjamin Kaszas/Joao Poli (GWU) 8-6 at the No.3 spot.
        In singles action, senior Anton Protsenko def. Benjamin Kaszas 6-4, 7-6, 7-3 in three sets at the No. 2 spot; junior Artemiy Nikitin def. Roman Pitfor 6-0, 6-3 in two sets at the No. 3 spot and freshman Jiri Stiburek won in three sets 6-3,7-6, 7-5 over Matt Parker.
       SC State will return to action on this weekend when they travel to Daytona Beach, FL to take on the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic showdown. First-serve begins at 10 a.m.
