SC State Hit The Road To Take On Clemson

CLEMSON, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday (Dec. 3), when they travel to take on ACC foe the Tigers of Clemson University at Littlejohn Coliseum. Tip-off is 7 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN3

This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools in the series and fifth in the last six seasons. Clemson leads the series 11-1 and have won the last six meetings.

The Bulldogs (2-5, 0-0 MEAC) are coming off a tough 67-83 defeat to Omaha (Nebraska) at home on last week. Meanwhile Clemson knocked off Coastal Carolina, 69-40, last Friday. The Tigers (6-1, 0-0 ACC) will be seeking its first 5-0 start at home since 2008-09 campaign, where they won their first nine contests.

SC State is led by preseason First Team All-MEAC senior forward Matthew Hezekiah with 14.0 ppg and 5.4 rpg, while sophomore guard Jordan Smith a transfer from Brevard (CC) is second with 8.1 points per outing. Sophomore forward Daryll Palmer leads the Bulldogs in rebounds with 6.7, while scoring a little over 8.0 points per contest.

Meanwhile, the Tigers leads the NCAA in scoring defense (51.3), is second in field goal percentage defense (.341), third in three-point percentage (.212) and sixth in blocks per game (8.0).

Clemson is coming off a +19 rebounding margin over Coastal Carolina, the school largest in any game since 2009 verus the College of Charleston. K.J. McDaniel is tied for 10th in the programs history with Raymond Sikes in career blocks (102).McDaniel has five 20-point games already this season, tied for second in the ACC behind only Duke's Jabari Parker (7).

South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Dec.7) when they host Georgia Southern in a 6 p.m. non-conference matchup at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
