Bulldogs Battle Mavericks in First Game of Season Series

OMAHA, Neb
—The South Carolina State Bulldogs will battle the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in the first game of a season series Tuesday at Ralston Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Tuesday's contest between the Mavericks and Bulldogs will mark the first meeting in school history. The two teams will meet again next week as part of a home-and-home series, as Nebraska-Omaha will travel to Orangeburg, SC on Monday, Nov. 25.

Coach Murray Garvin and the Bulldogs (1-3) enters tonight's contest after dropping a tough 83-56 contest tp Big Ten foe the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on Sunday. Sophomore transfer guard Jordan Smith led the way with 14 points and three 3-pointers, while senior guard Adama "Louis" Adams added 11 and four assists.

Freshman forward Patrick Kirksey played a key role off the bench with nine points and eight rebounds on the day.

The Mavericks (2-2) are led by Preseason All-Summit First Team senior guard Justin Simmons with 9.0 ppg, while junior guard CJ Carter is the leading scorer with 18.8 ppg and 3.3 rpg, and sophomore guard Devin Patterson with 11.8 points per outing.

The Bulldogs are led by senior forward All-MEAC First Team performer Matthew Hezekiah with 15.7 ppg, while Smith adds 10.0 points and Adams chips in 9.0 per outing.

South Carolina State will return to action on Saturday when they host Voorhees College in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
