SC State Takes On #7 Michigan In Men's Basketball Action

ANN ARBOR, MICH—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (1-1) will face their toughest challenge of the season tonight, when they take on No.7 Michigan(1-0) in a non-conference matchup at Crisler Arena. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 59-55 win against Division II opponent St. Andrews University (N.C.) of the NAIA over the weekend at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. All-MEAC senior forward Matthew Hezekiah led the Bulldogs with 19 points and six rebounds on the day.

The No. 7 Wolverine had one of their best seasons in school history in 2013, making it to the final four for the first time since the Fab Five era and finished as the NCAA Champion Runner-up last season.

Michigan opened its season with a 69-42 victory over UMASS at Crisler Center. Caris LeVert led the way with a career-best 17 points, while sophomore forward Glenn Robinson III had 15 and Zack Irvin came off the bench with 10. John Horford led the way in rebounding with a career-high 12 of Michigan's 39 rebounds against UMASS.

SC State picked 11th in the Mid-Eastern Athletic preseason basketball poll, returns four starters in senior forward Matthew Hezekiah (18.0, 5.5 rpg), guard Adama Adams (10.5 ppg), guard/forward Devin Joint (2.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg), and sophomore All-MEAC Rookie selection Daryll Palmer (5.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg).

South Carolina State hit the road for a two-game swing when they travel to cornhusker state to take on University of Nebraska on Sunday, Nov. 17 in a 2 p.m. showdown. Then the Bulldogs travel to Omaha, NE to battle the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday (Nov.20)in a 7 p.m., tip-off.
