Hasty Captures Gold in Long Jump at MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Bulldog Men Currently in Third Place

Sr., Zackery Hasty captured gold in the long jump at MEAC Championships
Greensboro, N.C.—Senior Zackery Hasty jumped a personal best 7.32 meters (24-00.25) en route to capturing the gold in the long jump at the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The Bulldog men are currently in third place with 26.50 points at the championships, which conclude tomorrow (Sat., May 5).

SC State picked up two medals on the day as senior Noel Facey captured bronze in the shot put with a throw of 16.27 meters (50-11.00).  Overall, the Bulldogs received additional points from Facey and Xavier Molette in the discus, Eric Sparkman in the high jump and Graylan Jefferson in the decathlon. The Bulldog men also had two athlete's to advance to event finals as Donta Young made it thru in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.11 while Seymour Walter advanced in the 800 meters with a 1:52.17.

The final day of competition will get underway at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Sat., May 5) with field events including: men's and women's pole vault, javelin, and triple jump. The women's and men's 4x100 meter relays will begin the running finals at 1 p.m.  Rounding out the evening's events will be the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay race at 4:20 p.m.
