SC State Women’s Volleyball Seniors Look to the Future

Orangeburg, S.C.—After finishing their careers with a championship and amongst the top players in SC State women's volleyball history, four-of-the-five graduating seniors from this year's squad will further their education and look to their future goals.

Brimmer
Setter Bria Brimmer, libero Brendell Studnicka, middle blocker Shabree Roberson and hitter Peri Ligons all graduated with honors during the 2012 Commencement Exercises held Friday, May 4.  Brimmer, Studnicka and Roberson received the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude, while Ligons graduated Magna Cum Laude.  Likewise all four have been accepted and will attend graduate school in the Fall.
Studnicka

Brimmer, the top graduate from the accounting department, will attend the Hult International School of Business in London England where she will pursue her degree in finance; Studnicka will pursue a masters in sociology at the University of Nebraska; Roberson will pursue a PharmD degree at the Medical University of South Carolina; and Ligons, who was one of only 70 applicants accepted into Texas A&M Medical School, will focus on dermatology.

Roberson
The four young ladies were instrumental in the success of the Lady Bulldogs over the last four seasons.  They were a part of the team in 2010 that captured the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title in 20 years and last season they earned the NCAA award for most aces per set.
Ligons
Additionally, Brimmer and Roberson will leave ranked in the top five at their position.  Brimmer will leave SC State atop the career assist leader board with 4,275 while Roberson is third in total blocks, block assists and solo blocks in a career.

Robinson
The fifth graduating senior, Melissa Robinson finished this season ranked sixth (6th) in services aces in the nation.  She leaves ranked first all-time in digs (996) and fourth all-time in service aces with 143 at SC State.

The women's volleyball team finished with a 17-16 overall record and 8-3 in the MEAC in 2011.
