Columbia, S.C.--William "Bil"l Hamilton, the longtime sports information director at SC State, was among four persons honored for their various contributions to sports in the Palmetto State by the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame during its annual banquet and induction ceremony. The event was held on yesterday (May 14) at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
Hamilton, who was the recipient of the Herman Helms Media Excellence Award, veteran basketball coach Bobby Cremins, Steve Wilmont of the RBC Heritage Golf Classic, and Boyd Management Company of Columbia president Kent Wheat were all honored along with Hall of Fame inductees Bill Wilhelm, June Raines, Hootie Johnson, Duce Staley, Dale Davis, Stephen Davis, Jim Hunter and Evelyn Jordan.
