ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State will hold its “Meet the Players Day” and “Fan Fest” Saturday (Aug. 20) beginning at 10 a.m. at Willie Jeffries' Field at O.C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium.
The annual event, sponsored by The STATE Club – the SC State boosters – allows fans and supporters to meet the Bulldogs, take pictures, get autographs and have lunch with the players and also test their knowledge of SC State football trivial. A Throwback sale of Bulldog jerseys, T-shirts and shorts will also be conducted and the STATE Club will launch its annual membership drive.
In a special 12 noon ceremony, MEAC championship rings will be presented to the SC State football, volleyball and men's and women's tennis teams. Following the ring presentation, kids, fans and supporters will be able to have lunch with the team. Lunch tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for those 17-and under.
The Bulldog football team will kick off the day with its second preseason scrimmage, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Bulldogs conducted their final preseason workout Wednesday evening prior to the start of classes Thursday, an off-day for Coach Pough's team, which will return to the practice field Friday at 3:30 p.m. to prepare for Saturday morning's scrimmage.
