ORANGEBURG, SC – A “Rally at the Square” pep rally was held Tuesday (Sept. 7) to help SC State kick off its 2010 home football season, which gets underway Saturday when the Bulldogs host Mississippi Valley State in a 6 p.m. contest at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. During Saturday's contest, SC State will celebrate Hall of Fame and Military Appreciation Day.

Tuesday's rally, the third in as many years by the Orangeburg community to support Coach Buddy Pough's team, was attended by a large crowd and featured performances by the famed SC State Marching 101 Band, the Champagne Dancers and the Bulldog cheerleaders.

Cheerleader groups from Orangeburg Prep School (OPS) and Orangeburg-Wilkinson (O-W) High School also performed and the latter's football team was in attendance.

The rally, which featured remarks from Orangeburg mayor Paul Miller, SC State president Dr. George Cooper, Bulldog athletics director Charlene Johnson, County Councilman Willie B. Owens, Times and Democrat newspaper publisher Cathy Hughes and Orangeburg Touchdown Club president Don Tribble, was sponsored jointly Orangeburg Country, the City of Orangeburg, SC State, the Chamber of Commerce and the TD Club. Chamber executive director David Coleman served as Em Cee.

Saturday's contest against the visiting Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley is the first of five games in Orangeburg. At half time, the SC State 2010 Hall of Fame Class will be presented, and military personnel in attendance will be recognized throughout the game.

Season tickets are still available at $130 each. For more information, call the Bulldog Ticket Office at 803-536-8579 or toll free at 800-298-9157.
