BUENA VISTA, VA – Transfer Olivia Moore and freshman Briana Lopez scored two goals each and sophomore Stephanie Searle had one goal and three assists to power South Carolina State to a 7-1 win over Virginia Southern Friday afternoon.
Also tallying goals for Coach Glad Bugariu's team were senior Brook Ehinger and freshman Kaitlynn Cortez.
The Lady Bulldogs, who rebounded from a 3-1 loss at Longwood (Va.) on Sunday, improved to 2-1-1 on the season. Virginia Southern, which was hosting an NCAA Division I soccer program for the first time, fell to 0-2.
“We did what we needed to do (got a win),” said Bugariu after the victory. “And now we are getting focused for Monday.”
The SC State women host Campbell Monday at 7 p.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium. Admission is free.
