SC State Tennis Teams Saluted

Men and Women to Face Florida in NCAA Championships

Tennis Teams and Supporters Celebrate During Tuesday Salute
The South Carolina State men's and women's tennis teams have combined for 12 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships the last seven seasons. Two of the feats occurred this year, sending both teams to the prestigious NCAA Championship that gets underway Friday at sites around the country.

The SC State women will meet third-ranked Florida Friday at 2 p.m. at Gainesville, while men take on the sixth-seeded Gators Saturday at noon.

On Tuesday, both teams and Coach Hardeep Judge, who coaches both squads, were honored with a rousing salute and celebration at the President's State Room on the SC State campus as they prepare to go to Florida. An overflow crowd was on hand for the event, including a diverse group of supporters from the campus and the community.

Orangeburg Mayor Paul Miller presented the teams and coach a proclamation designating Tuesday, May 11, SC State Tennis Champions Day, and Mr. Frank Tourville, the CEO for Zeus Industries shared a tribute.

Remarks were also made by SC State president Dr. George E. Cooper, Bulldog athletics director Charlene M. Johnson, Coach Judge, sports information director Bill Hamilton, and Jan Langer of the men's tennis squad.

The tennis programs have been the most productive at SC State the last seven seasons.
