DAYTONA BEACH, FL—South Carolina State women's tennis team improved to 11-4 on the season, 3-0 in the MEAC posting big victories over Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman this past weekend in the sunshine state.
The Lady Bulldogs went a perfect 2-0 defeating Florida A&M 4-3 and Bethune-Cookman 5-2 in women's tennis action. In singles action against FAMU it was at the #1 Darla Sekerina defeating Rachel Pye (6-3, 6-4), #2 Fanni Fricska defeating Brittany Dean(6-4, 6-1), # 3 Maria Craciun defeating Kathline Durden (8-6, 6-3) and at #6 Amy Chen I-Chen defeated Bethany Holt (6-3, 6-3).
Darla Sekerina/Maria Craciun improved to 13-0 and remained undefeated in doubles action defeating LaTreece Olagbegi/Beate Valdane 8-1.
In action against Bethune-Cookman it was Darla Sekerina (6-2, 6-2), Maria Craciun (7-5, 6-2), and Amy Chen I-Chun all posting single wins. Sekerina/Craciun improved to 14-0 with an 8-2 doubles victory.
South Carolina State women's tennis team will return to action on Thursday when they host USC-Aiken in a 1 p.m. contest.
