VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. –– South Carolina State's Laura Bosneag and Dmytro Kovalevych were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tennis Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Friday.
Bosneag (Fr., Romania) won three sets last week to aid the Lady Bulldogs. Against Emory Riddle, the freshman won 6-1, 6-2. She followed that performance with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Marist and five set victory against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Kovalevych (Fr., Czech Republic) posted a 5-1 mark last week with victories over Hardin Simmons, Florida Simmons, Farleigh Dickinson, Colgate, and St. John's last week. Kovalevych won in straight sets in four of the five matches at the number three singles position.
Howard's Brittney Morgan and Norfolk State's Dexter McDowell received Rookie of the Week accolades.
Other Top Performances:
Maria Craciun (SCSU) posted a 2-1 mark last week with wins over Emory Riddle and Fairleigh Dickinson and a loss to Marist at the number two position.
