GREENSBORO, NC – The South Carolina State bowling team's strong showing at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2010 MEAC Bowling Championship at the Gate City Lanes came to an end Sunday with a 4-2 loss to former national Champion Maryland-Eastern Shore, who lost to face Delaware State in the the championship.
SC State junior Stephanie Sinclair was named to the five-person All-Tournament Team, which was headed by Delaware State's Angela Reynolds, the outstanding performer. Rounding out the team were Reynolds teammates Brook Peterson and Adriana Jaime and Florida A&M's Samantha Mighty.
SC State, which was in the league's postseason tournament for the first time in three seasons, entered the competition as the seventh seed before making a remarkable run to the semifinals after defeating Morgan State Saturday in the double-elimination bracket to earn the semifinal berth against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Coach Lorra Bailey's team upset #2 Florida A&M and after a loss to #3 Maryland Eastern Shore, bounced back to defeat #5 Hampton before getting pass #6 Morgan State and into the semifinals. In the matchup against Morgan State, Bailey's team battled back from being down 2-1 and rallied to win three games in Baker play to advance.
