GREENSBORO, NC – Host North Carolina A&T, behind a three-point barrage, outscored South Carolina State 57-41 in the second half in handing the Bulldogs an 87-69 setback Wednesday at the Corbett Sports Center.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 14-10 overall and 8-5 in the MEAC and was the second in three outings for Coach Tim Carter's team.

Darnell Porter had 19 points and five rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Jason Flagler had 13 points, but only four in the second half, in the loss, while Tyvon Williams and Brandon Smalls came off the bench for 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Aggies connected on 10 of 24 shots from behind the arc, six in the second half, in winning their second in a row.

Coach Jerry Eaves' team, which improved to 10-17 and 6-7 in the MEAC, was paced by Tavarus Alston with 23 points, including a 4-7 performance from three-point range. Marc Hill, who was 2-4 from behind the arc, came off the bench for 18 points and Nic Simpson, who made 4-6 3-pointers, chipped in 12.

The Aggies led by as many as eight points in the opening half before settling for a 30-28 advantage at the break.

The Bulldogs battled back to grab their only lead of the game – 45-44—on a short jumper by Flagler with 13:02 left. The lead changed hands twice before the Aggies connected on three straight baskets from long range to build a 61-51 advantage with 7:36 showing.

The Bulldogs, who were swept this season by the Aggies, could get no closer than nine points the rest of the way. NC A&T's biggest lead was the final margin.

SC State will continue its five-game, 10-day road trip Saturday at Atlanta when they meet Georgia State in one of 49 Bracket Buster games. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
