SC State's Stewart Continues Strong Cross Country Start

CONWAY, SC – South Carolina State sophomore cross country runner Brittney Stewart continued her strong start Friday with a third-place showing at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Stewart, a Bonaire, Ga. native, covered the 5k run in a time of 19:04.84 to grab third among 26 participants and help the Lady Bulldogs to an overall time of 1:52.23 and third place in the three-team field. Host Coastal Carolina finished first.
In the men’s competition, Charles Kurgatt was the top finisher for SC State as he
completed the 6k run in a time of 21:27.17 for a 15th place finish in a field of 51
participants. As a team, the Bulldogs finished sixth in the six-team field with a total time
of 1:55.52. The Coastal Carolina men won the event.
