ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State women's golf team will open its fall golf schedule Saturday at the two-day (Sept. 19-20), 36-hole Great Smokies Inter-collegiate Golf Championship at the Waynesville Inn & Golf Resort at Cullowhee, North Carolina.
Twenty-four teams are scheduled to participate in the tournament, which is hosted by Western Carolina. First-round action begins Saturday at 9:15 a.m. with a shotgun start. The final 18 holes on Sunday also get underway at 9:15 a.m.
The event is the first of four fall tournaments the Lady Bulldogs will play in under first-year head coach Sandy Burris.
Making up this year's roster for SC State are three returnees – junior Honesty Biggers of Orlando, FL; and seniors Addi McLaren of Ontario, Canada and Geneva Mackey of Tucson, AZ -- along with freshmen Allison Brown of Fayetteville, GA, Cabriel Duran of Oviedo, FL and Marina Terry of Gastonia, NC.
Other tournaments on the SC State fall schedule are a home dual match with The Citadel Oct. 11-12, the Wendy's Invitational, hosted by Charleston Southern Oct. 19-20), and the College of Charleston Invitational Nov. 2-3 at Pinehurst, NC.
