ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State freshman Monique Gracia will be among the nation’s collegians competing at the 2009 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship set for Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, Eugene, Ore., Jun. 25-28.

            Gracia, a hurdler and sprinter from Miami, Fla., qualified in the 100 meters with a time of 11.82.

            Also participating at the site will be SC State volunteer assistant coach Michael Jackson, who is an unattached entrant in the high jump in USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Jackson, a Bamberg native and St. Augustine’s graduate, qualified for the event as well as the US Trials for the World Championship with a jump of 2.18 meters (7-1 ½).

Two SC State Freshmen to Compete at USA Junior National Track

ORANGEBURG, SC – Two South Carolina State freshmen will be among the participants at the 2010 USA Junior National Track and Field Championships hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa June 24-27. Representing SC State will be former Spartanburg High School teammates Arnetra Frazier and Erica Peake, both sprinters.

GREENSBORO, NC – During the final day of competition at the NCAA Track East Preliminary Round at Irwin Belk Track on the North Carolina A&T campus, South Carolina State’s best chance for a trip to the June 9-12 NCAA National Track Championship in Eugene, Ore. was foiled with a bad exchange on the first leg.

Gracia Ties Personal Record but unable to Advance at NCAA Track

GREENSBORO, NC – South Carolina State sophomore Monique Gracia tied her personal record with a time of 13.69 in the 100 meter hurdles Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at Irwin Belk Track on the North Carolina A&T campus, however, the Miami native finished 28th overall in the event and only the top 24 advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals. The Lady Bulldogs’ Alexandria Jones, another sophomore, also failed to advance in the 200 meters.

Ten Student-Athletes Compete for Spot in NCAA Track Nationals

GREENSBORO, NC – Ten (10) members of the South Carolina State track teams will be among some 1,900 student athletes from 166 colleges and universities trying to earn berths in the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

SC State Men Finish 4th; Women Finish 3rd at the 2010 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Greensboro, NC—The SC State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams improved immensely as they finished 4th and 3rd at the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships were contested at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. Sophomore Shamire Rothmiller finished the meet with 22 points to capture the Outstanding Field Athlete award.
