SCSU Men Take on #4 UGA In NCAA Tennis Tourney

ATHENS, GA— The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Champions South Carolina State University will take on the SEC Champions University of Georgia, in the opening round of the NCAA Tennis Championships Friday at  Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

 

Senior Ivan Milivojevic the MEAC Player of the Year and the Bulldogs (14-5) are making their fifth NCAA appearance since 2004 and eight MEAC title overall. SC State posted an undefeated mark in conference play this season and will be seeking their first match win in the NCAA tournament after getting swept in previous appearances.

 

Meanwhile, the Georgia men’s tennis team, led by coach Manuel Diaz, is ranked fourth nationally with a 22-3 record. They won the SEC Eastern Division this season and reached the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. The Bulldogs are the two-time defending NCAA Champions. They will be making their 31st overall appearance and looking to capture their seventh NCAA title. Georgia has reached the finals the past three years and claimed the title in 2007 and 2008.

 

Tickets for the NCAA Tournament matches are available for purchase in advance online via www.georgiadogs.com or by calling 1-877-542-1231. Tickets will also go on sale two hours before the first match each day at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. General admission tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Students (college-aged and younger).
