GREENSBORO, NC – South Carolina State will be among eleven (11) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schools vying for the league’s track and field championships being conducted Thursday through Saturday (Apr. 30-May 2) at the Irwin Belk Track Complex on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
The competition gets underway Thursday with the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon and continues on Friday with field events and prelims in some running events, with the finals set for Saturday.
SC State’s hope in the women’s competition will be led by junior Tempest Vance in the 400m hurdles and heptathlon, Shamire Rothmiller in the shot put and javelin, Kristi Foster in the javelin and heptathlon, Jasmine Smith in the triple jump, and the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
On the men’s side, the Bulldogs will look to Noel Facey in the shot put and discus, Marcus Stephens in the triple jump, Leighton Brown in the javelin, and Donta Young in the 400m and 110m hurdles.
Norfolk State is the defending champion in the men’s division and will be going for its fourth straight crown, while Hampton will be seeking its fourth consecutive championship in the women’s competition.
