Bulldog Track and Field Head to Gainesville to Compete at Florida Relays

SC State Track & Field

Orangeburg, SC- The South Carolina State men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Gainesville, FL this weekend to compete at the 65^th Annual Pepsi Florida Relays. The meet, which is hosted by the University of Florida, will be held this Friday-Saturday, Apr. 3-4 at the Percy Beard Track at the James G. Pressly Stadium on the campus of the University of Florida.

In addition to SC State and host University of Florida, track and field powerhouses Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida State as well as Mississippi, Georgia State, Miami, George Mason, South Carolina and Clemson are scheduled to compete. The meet will also play host to several professional athletes.

The Relays get underway, Friday at 11:30 a.m. with the women’s 1500 meter run and will conclude on Saturday evening with the men’s 4x400 meter relay.

SC State Comes Up Short at NCAA Track

GREENSBORO, NC – During the final day of competition at the NCAA Track East Preliminary Round at Irwin Belk Track on the North Carolina A&T campus, South Carolina State’s best chance for a trip to the June 9-12 NCAA National Track Championship in Eugene, Ore. was foiled with a bad exchange on the first leg.

SC State Men Finish 4th; Women Finish 3rd at the 2010 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Greensboro, NC—The SC State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams improved immensely as they finished 4^th and 3^rd at the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships were contested at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. Sophomore Shamire Rothmiller finished the meet with 22 points to capture the Outstanding Field Athlete award.

Orangeburg, SC—SC State will host the Robert “Jet” Johnson Bulldog Relays this Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Lorry H. Dawkins Track Facility on the campus of SC State.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the first field event of the day -- the men’s shot-put. Running events will get underway at 11 o’clock with the 4x100 meter relay.
