Landover, MD—The SC State men's indoor track team finished a disappointing 11th place at the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships this past weekend. The championships were contested at the Prince Georges County Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD.
Junior Levar Knight was the Bulldogs' top finisher as he placed fourth in the long jump and seventh in the high jump. Senior Jahwaun Blair also placed in the top eight in two events as he finished fourth in the weight throw and eighth in the shot put. Freshmen Marcus Stephens and Noel Facey were the other two Bulldogs to place at this year's championships.
Head Coach Tyree E. Price, who is in his second season as the leader of the Bulldogs, was disappointed in the finish by his men's team. “I'm very disappointed in our finish,” said Price. “I thought we had the talent to finish much higher but we just didn't perform as a team.”
The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to redeem themselves this Saturday, Feb. 21 when they travel to Clemson, SC to participate in the Tiger Invitational hosted by Clemson University.
