Stewart Earns All-MEAC Cross Country Honor
SC State Women Climb 2 Places over 2007 for the Championship

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – South Carolina State sophomore Brittney Stewart, by virtue of a Top 15 Finish at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday (Oct. 31) at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, has earned a spot on the league’s All-MEAC Cross Country Team.
Stewart, a Bonaire, Ga. native finished seventh overall in the 5K event with a time of 19:03.88. Two other SC State runners finished in the top 30. Junior Patrecia Daniley of Orlando was 28th with a time of 20:59.90, while sophomore Amber Williams finished 30th in clocking of 21:04.80.
SC State was seventh overall in the team competition, up two places from 2007, with a team-total 181 points. Norfolk State finished first with a total of 49 points.
The SC State men climbed one place to 10th over last year’s showing with a team total of 252 points. Charles Kurgatt was the top finisher for the Bulldogs with a clocking of 28:52.66 for 28th place overall.
