Bowling Team Travels to Bethune-Cookman
11/14/2009 6:46:57 PM
ORANGEBURG, SC – The SC State bowling team will be in action for a second straight weekend as the Lady Bulldogs travel to Daytona Beach for the second MEAC Southern Division competition of the season Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 14-15).
Bethune-Cookman will be the host team of the event, which will also include Florida A&M, North Carolina A&T and Winston-Salem State, along with SC State, which is 5-5 on the season.
The SC State women should be a full strength for this week’s competition after key performers Autumn Glencamp and Darcie Evans were slowed by injury or illness last week at Winston-Salem. Also available to head coach Lorra Bailey is Mariah Hebbe, who joined the team after competing in soccer for SC State.
Coach Bailey expects her team to improve on last week’s showing, in which the team picked up on a few spares.
“We could have done much better had we picked up our spares,” she said. “We would have gained almost 1000 extra pins, which would have put us in a position to win the meet. We’d love to roll strikes all the time, but we would do much better if we are able to pick up our spares.”
