SC State Plays VMI to 0-0 Tie In Women's Soccer

Orangeburg, SC—The SC State women’s soccer team concluded its record-breaking 2009 regular season with a 0-0 tie versus VMI. The contest, which was contested at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium, was senior day for the Lady Bulldogs.
 
The contest marked the fourth overtime campaign of the season for Coach Glad Bugariu’s team which is undefeated in extra-period matches with a 1-0-3 mark. With the win the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-6-3 and has recorded the first winning campaign in the history of the soccer program.
 
Despite the double-overtime tie, both teams finished the games with double-digit shots as VMI had 14 with SC State having 23.
 
The victory marked the second of the weekend for the Lady Bulldogs as they defeated the Lady Bison of Howard on Friday, 1-0, in Washington DC.
 
SC State dominated in shots attempted 23 to 14, but was unable to take advantage of its many chances.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Newark, NJ this weekend (Oct. 5-9, 2009) to participate in the Great West Conference Tournament.

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State soccer team, in its second spring exhibition Saturday, faced teams from the powerful Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences at Columbia. The Lady Bulldogs were very competitive in both matches, losing 2-0 to the ACC’s North Carolina State and 3-0 to South Carolina of the SEC, which finished its fall schedule ranked eighth nationally.

Naperville, Ill—South Carolina State soccer players Janine Francois and Talitha Wood have been named to the Great West Conference (GWC) 2009 Fall Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the league recently.
 
Francois a 5-2 senior forward/mid-fielder (Trinidad/Couva Government Secondarie) is a business management major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.351; while Wood, also 5-2 and a redshirt senior mid-fielder (Nassau, Bahamas/Binghamton University), is a biology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.219.
