Cross Country Update

ORANGEBURG, SC – The SC State men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Princess Anne, Md. Saturday for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore.

            The competition gets underway at 9:45 a.m., with the women running a 5K, followed by the men, who will cover an 8K course.

SC State Cross Country Team Opens Season

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State cross country team will open its 2009 campaign Friday at the Gamecock Invite at the University of South Carolina. The match will be one of seven for Coach Tyree Price’s squad.

SC State Cross-Country/Track & Field Assistant Coach to Teach at USATF Level I School
Orangeburg, SC—SC State Track & Field Assistant Coach Donald Cooper will be amongst the instructors at the USA Track & Field Association Level I School. The classes, which are scheduled for May 22-24, will be held on the campus of Augusta State University in Augusta, GA.
 
Cooper, who is in his second season as an assistant with SC State has 8+ years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

Princess Anne, MD (October 25, 2008)—The South Carolina State University men’s cross-country team finished 10th and the women finished ninth at the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship held at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD.

SC State Men Finish Sixth; Women Finish Third at the Citadel Invitational
Charleston, NC—The SC State men’s team finished sixth while the women’s team finished third at the Citadel Invitational held at James Island County Park on Saturday.
            Freshman Charles Kurgatt (Tallahassee, FL) paced the Bulldogs finishing in 24th place (out of 58 competitors) with a time of 29:15.11. This time marks the best time of the season for Kurgatt in an 8k race.
