Women's Golf Team to Participate in Wendy's Classic

Women's Golf Update

ORANGEBURG, SC – The SC State women’s golf team will be one of fourteen teams participating in the two-day, 36-hole Wendy’s Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston Oct. 19-20 at the Coosaw Creek Country Club in Charleston. Tee time is set for 7:45 a.m. each day.

Making up the 14-team field are Div. I participants Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian, High Point, Winthrop, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Florida Gulf Coast, Memphis, Alabama-Birmingham, SC State and host Charleston Southern. Also, Div. II participants Armstrong Atlantic State and Carson Newman, and Div. III members Methodist and South Carolina-Beaufort.

The SC State women are coming off a 330 to 348 dual match victory over The Citadel on Tuesday.

SC State Women Finish 4th at PGA National Minority Golf

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLL – The South Carolina State women’s golf team followed Saturday’s school-record round of 318 with a team total 352 Sunday, its highest round of the tournament in settling for a fourth-place finish in the 24^th PGA National Minority Collegiate Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Club.

ORANGEBURG, SC – Ohio Girls Division I golf state champion Tiana Jones has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for South Carolina State beginning with the 2010 fall season. Jones, an Alliance (OH) High School senior, was the Player of the Year in her division and earned All-County honors this past season.

MARIETTA,GA—The South Carolina State women’s golf team finished third with a team score of 329 behind Bethune-Cookman(322) and leader Hampton University who finished with an overcall score of 319 at the Women’s Collegiate College Championship at the par-71 City of Marietta Golf Course.
