Orangeburg, SC—The SC State Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State, 3-0, (25-14, 25-16, 25-16), in a non-conference volleyball match-up in Dukes Gymnasium. With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs picked up its second win in a row.
SC State dominated the match from start to finish. The Lady Bulldogs put down 40 kills with a hitting percentage of .321 while holding the Lady Rams to just 19 kills and a hitting percentage of .013.
Junior Jarne Gleaton and senior Brittany Davis finish the match with double-digit kills recording 14 and 11 respectively. Sophomore Lauren Harris picked up 12 defensive digs while sophomore Bria Brimmer put up 23 set assists in the victory.
Annika Barnwell recorded 11 kills and picked up nine digs for Winston-Salem State in the loss.
SC State will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 20 when they host Coastal Carolina. This will be the Breast Cancer Awareness Game for the Lady Bulldogs. The team is asking all fans to wear pink in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative. Admission to the game is free; however, a $5 donation is being asked of non SC State students with all proceeds going to the Side-Out foundation. Tuesday’s contest is set for a 6 p.m. first serve in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of SC State.
