among over 1,000 student-athletes from more than 100 schools competing in the 2008 NCAA Track and Field East Regional at the Mike Long Track on the campus of Florida State Friday and Saturday (May30-31).

Garrett Blakely

Representing SC State are sophomore Tempest Vance of Anderson, who will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles on Friday, and Garrett Blakely, a senior of Pacolet, who is entered in the men's 400 meters.
Vance, who ran a season-best 59.66 in the 400-meter hurdles at Clemson May 10, is currently ranked number three in the event in the MEAC, while Blakely is sixth among quarter milers in the MEAC with a clocking of 46.97 which he ran at the MEAC Track and Field Championship at Baltimore May 3
The top five finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Track and Field National Championship, which gets underway June 11 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
