SC State Bowlers Compile 7-3 Record in 2008-09 Opener

GREENSBORO, NC – The South Carolina State bowling team opened its 2008-09 campaign this weekend (Nov. 8-9) at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division Round Robin.
The SC State women, under first-year head coach Lorra Bailey compiled a 7-3 mark in its 10 matches, going 4-1 in the five-person team games and 3-2 in Baker matches.
Bailey’s team earned victories over North Carolina A&T 789-780, Winston-Salem State 758-674, Bethune-Cookman 893-825, and North Carolina State 836-825, and lost to Florida A&M 859-846.
In the Baker competition, the Lady Bulldogs defeated NC State 4-2, Winston-Salem State 4-1 and Florida A&M 4-3, and lost to Bethune-Cookman 4-1 and Norfolk State 4-0.
Making up this year’s team are senior Teriny Bailey of Piedmont; juniors Darcie Evans of Decatur, GA, Brittani Haynes of Orangeburg and Mirisa Hicks of Sumter; and sophomores Autumn Glencamp of Lithonia, GA, and Stephanie Sinclair of Florence.
The SC State women, who will play a nine-match schedule this season, return to action Nov. 21 at the three-day UMES Hawk Classic in Princess Anne, MD.
